Love of Tulip
Part 1.
What would attract you?
My patience
My confidence
My honesty
My humor
My intelligence
My strength
My dreams
My beautiful soul....
He will love my charm, how bold and straight forward yet adventurous my mind is.
He will adore me as I adore him.
We will fulfill our desires for each other.
Through the storm, in the darkness of the moon light
We stick close to each other, embraced by our warmth.
We will fuel each other with motivation and positivity to the best of our abilities.
Sustaining ourselves, we will grow and understand one another.
From my roots to the tips of my smooth, silky, petals
I will be his blooming flower.
He will be my warm sunshine.
Part 2… Bloom at Dawn
I am a blooming flower,
you are the sunshine.
you bless me with warmth and light,
my petals open to give you my sweet pollen.
The heady scent of love in the air captivates your mind.
Your light dancing on the silky surface of my petals.
I feel you in every breath.
I have opened up to you,
you see me for who I am.
Not for what I am.
As you push yourself further into me.
I open up to you and my sweet pollen sticks to the rim of your lips.
We spread our seeds and grow from our roots together, through each phase of life.
That feeling you give me makes me want it forever.
Meet me here at the first light of dawn,
In the field of tulips you find me,
My eternal sunshine.
Part 3… Sweet Nyctinasty
You find yourself in the field of Tulips,
Surrounded with the dust of my pollen, enchanted.
As the wind whirls around you.
You feel my arms wrap around you embracing your soul; as the light fades to dark.
At twilight, I close my petals tight.
My nyctinasty becomes our safety net.
Here we have our own volition,
Here we are free to explore our desires comfortably.
Here at the core, embraced by our connection, I feel that tender love.
Our hearts touch for the first time and we feel each other’s pulse.
I give you a soft kiss on your shoulder reminding you where you found me.
Laying out in the sun, waiting for my turn to be picked up off the ground.
In the field of tulips where my heart was first seeded.
While i was once lost, alone and dancing in the harsh thunderstorm,
I was storing my energy, waiting for my time to shine.
You gave me what I needed to reveal my true colors, too you.
You are the sunlight.
Like water under the heat of the sun.
I give you my love to drain.
Like a flower I give you the space to grow.
Eternity is with us, there is no rush to go.
Nyctinasty: A type of plant movement that occurs in response to changes in light, specifically the onset of darkness. Plants that exhibit nyctinasty include Tulips, Poppies, and prayer plants.

There are some voices that don't just speak—they bloom.
Tulip is one of those writers. A poet and prose artist who merges metaphor with vulnerability, Tulip invites us into intimate worlds made of sunlight, silk, and deep emotional truths. His words are rooted in love—self-love, romantic love, transformative love—and yet they never shy away from complexity or softness.
In this interview, we step into the field of Tulip’s imagination to learn more about the heart behind the poetry, the process that shapes his petals, and the sunlight that makes him write.
Z: Your writing beautifully blends natural imagery with emotional intimacy—what drew you to use flowers, light, and nature as metaphors for love and connection?
T: I consider myself very connected to the earth. I use my surroundings to guide me spiritually, I have learned how to adapt quickly, and put out as much love as I can to each person I care for. I believe in leading with love. I used light as a metaphor because plants need light to survive, just like every living thing on the surface of the earth. I find it enchanting to think of it in that aspect. It is exactly what love feels like to me.
Z: There’s a strong current of transformation and self-revelation throughout your work. What has writing taught you about yourself?
T: My growth as a human has been a long ride. I understand now that this experience as life is one I will only have— now. Here is another word I keep at the top of my mind: Gratitude. There are many words you can use to motivate yourself, you just need to find them and live by them. Recently, I have been having a lot of epiphanies, and I have been using them to fuel myself further. Writing has shown me where to put my foot down, and what emotions I have on a typical day. A lot of venting from me, I can’t help it, but it works.
Z: “Sweet nyctinasty” explores desire, vulnerability, and trust in such a tender way. How do you approach writing about intimacy without holding back?
T: I teeter on the verge of my desires.
I say I lead with love, but I really lead with passion. I take my inspiration from nature’s autonomy, I take small pieces from the people I look up to, and I use it to express myself. I am a romantic person, so everything in my head is romanticized… everything. When I have a crush on someone, the feelings are so intense. I feel the urge to suppress my emotions as a response to trauma. My writing helps me heal by giving me an outlet to project my emotions, to really find the meaning of what these feelings mean to me. Hope that is apparent in what I have been yearning for.
Z: Your poems feel like love letters to the self and the beloved. Who or what inspires these pieces—are they grounded in real experiences, dreams, or something in between?
T: When it comes to love, I am very selective in who I put my trust in. Not to say I have expectations at all, but I do have a high moral compass. I really want someone who has that as well, and can visualize the world through the eyes of Tulip. When I wrote these 3 pieces, I had someone in mind to draw inspiration from. Yes, I also used my imagination to fantasize and create something with real meaning to me. This has opened up so many doors in my mind. After having such a long creative block, now I can heal and let the world watch me as I use each one of my blessings to make my reality happen. My intentions for these poems, my intentions for my own personal letter of love, not only to a future. lover, but also as a way to remind myself what I am deserving of. I think having a lover will light my world up in ways I can’t imagine.
Z: If someone were reading “Love of Tulip“ for the first time, what feeling or message would you hope stays with them after the final line?
T: You will struggle to find balance at certain points in your life; that is a part of your experience. You must live through it and find value in it through any means. You have roots in the ground, you are in the first stages of growth. Take each step slowly and give back to your community. There is a whole world outside the city that everyone must see.
